I stay in a small town Kamieskroon in the centre of Namakwaland, South Africa.   The region is well known for the flowers in August and September every year.  Kamieskroon is a very small town with ±850 inhabitants. Yes, the area is very remote.  With less than 2 inhabitants per square km it  happens that you are the only person in a 5 km radius.

I am semi-retired and use my skills on a lathe as a artform .  I turn pens and peppermils out of Wild Olive wood and other exotic wood.  The Wild Olive tree grow in abundance in the kloofs.

The wild Olive give a very textures finish, is very hard to turn  and the endproduct is extraordinary.

You are welcome to contact me for info on pens, peppermills an accomodation in Namakwaland.
